What to Know Before and After Your Body Treatment
Thinking of trying a body treatment or massage and wondering what to expect?
Here you’ll find answers about choosing the right treatment, preparing for your visit, what happens during your session and how to care for yourself afterwards.
Of course! At Every Body, all genders, all bodies and all expressions of identity are welcome. Your treatment is chosen according to your needs, the condition of your skin and body, and what you would like to achieve.
Whether you’re looking for relaxation or targeted care, I’ll help you choose what suits you, without judgement or stereotypes.
You don’t need to know which treatment is right for you before you visit.
You can tell me what you’re looking for: softer, more hydrated skin, care for specific skin concerns, muscle toning, improving the appearance of cellulite, or simply some time to relax.
The body treatment menu offers a range of options:
- Anti-Cellulite Massage and CurveFit, focusing on cosmetic care for areas where cellulite concerns you.
- Ultratone® EMS and EMS Booty Lift, for targeted muscle activation.
- Back Reset, The Bits Facial and The Tush Facial, for the skin on specific areas of the body.
- Massage, for relaxation and care tailored to your preferences.
- Body scrubs and The Diamond Body Glow, for exfoliation and softer, smoother skin.
If you’re unsure what to book, please contact me before making your appointment.
Before we begin, we’ll discuss your concerns, what you expect from the treatment and any previous experience you may have.
You’ll also need to let me know about any relevant medical history, medication, allergies, injuries or recent surgery.
I’ll explain what the session involves, which areas we’ll work on and what sensations you may experience. You can ask questions or request an adjustment at any stage.
During a massage, the main focus is hands-on massage techniques, with the approach and pressure chosen according to your goals and comfort.
A body skincare treatment focuses more on the skin itself and may include cleansing, exfoliation, a mask, serums and moisturising.
Some treatments combine several different stages. You’ll find a detailed explanation of what’s included in each service description.
It depends on the treatment and your goals.
A relaxing massage or body skincare treatment can be enjoyed as a single visit. For ongoing care, I may recommend a course of sessions followed by maintenance appointments.
The number of sessions and the intervals between them depend on your starting point, how you respond and the requirements of the particular treatment.
We’ll review your programme along the way to make sure it continues to meet your needs.
Depending on the treatment, you may notice softer skin or feel more relaxed after your first visit.
This doesn’t mean that every goal can be achieved in a single session. Individual responses vary, and an immediate change is not necessarily permanent.
Before we begin, I’ll explain what you can reasonably expect from your chosen treatment.
The sensation varies depending on the treatment, the area being treated and your individual sensitivity. For example, a Swedish Massage has a different intensity from a Deep Tissue or Anti-Cellulite Massage.
No. Bruising is neither a treatment goal nor proof that a massage has been effective.
If you bruise easily or take medication that affects blood clotting, it’s important to let me know before your appointment.
Preparation depends on the service you’ve chosen.
You’ll find the relevant instructions in each treatment description. Please read them before your appointment, especially if your session involves exfoliation or a device-based treatment.
In general, arrive with clean skin and comfortable clothing. Let me know about any recent hair removal, sun exposure, other treatments or products you use on the area.
No, you don’t need to remove your body hair specifically for your appointment.
If you shave or use another hair removal method, let me know which method you use and when you last used it, so we can plan your session appropriately.
The necessary waiting period depends on the treatment you’ll be having and the condition of your skin.
It depends on the treatment and the area we’ll be working on.
I’ll explain which items of clothing need to be removed to allow access to the treatment areas, and we’ll discuss how the rest of your body will be covered.
If there’s an area you don’t want touched or anything makes you feel uncomfortable, you can tell me before or during the session. Your personal boundaries matter.
Come as you are!
You don’t need to lose weight, remove your body hair or change anything about your appearance to deserve care. Cellulite, stretch marks, scars, body hair and changes in the skin are things I see every day in my work.
You can talk to me about anything that makes you feel uneasy. We’ll discuss how to make the session more comfortable for you.
Yes. Not every technique is suitable for every person or at every stage of their life.
It’s important to let me know about any relevant medical history, recent surgery or injury, pregnancy, implanted medical devices or medication.
For example, a pacemaker is a contraindication to EMS treatment, while a history of thrombosis or the use of blood-thinning medication may mean that certain massage techniques need to be avoided and medical advice sought beforehand.
Depending on your circumstances, we may need to adapt or postpone the treatment, or ask you to consult your doctor.
Please let me know before booking so we can discuss the particular service you’re considering.
Your needs and any restrictions depend on your stage of pregnancy or recovery, your medical history and your doctor’s advice. During pregnancy, some techniques may need to be adapted or avoided.
After childbirth, especially following a caesarean birth or any complications, the timing of your return to body treatments needs to be assessed individually.
Sensitive skin or an allergy doesn’t necessarily rule out every treatment. However, I need to know exactly what you experience and which ingredients or products cause a reaction.
We’ll look at the available options and avoid particular products or techniques where necessary.
Combining them on the same area may not be suitable.
Hair removal and certain body treatments can increase skin sensitivity. Combining them therefore needs planning, especially when a treatment includes a scrub, microdermabrasion or other exfoliating stages.
Before booking consecutive appointments, let me know which services and areas you’re interested in. I’ll recommend the appropriate order and the necessary intervals between treatments.
Different treatments have different requirements.
In many cases, you can carry on with your day as usual. Depending on the treatment, you may experience temporary redness or sensitivity, or need to treat the area more gently for a while.
Before we begin, I’ll explain what to expect.
The advice varies depending on the treatment.
After certain treatments, you may need to temporarily avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, friction or direct sun exposure.
For Ultratone® EMS, I usually recommend allowing the muscles we’ve worked on to rest from strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
I’ll give you specific advice about showering and your other activities, depending on the treatment and the products used.
Care between visits depends on the aim of your treatment.
It may include appropriate moisturising and skincare, sun protection for exposed areas, and follow-up sessions where these would be beneficial.
After your treatment, I’ll explain in detail at the studio what you should do and what to avoid. You’ll also receive the instructions by email, so you can refer to them whenever you need to.
Yes! With MORE Body, you pay in advance for 7 sessions of a specific participating treatment and enjoy the 8th as a gift from me. The package is valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.
If you’re interested in regular care, we’ll first discuss which treatment and schedule best suit your needs.
