Commonly Asked Questions About Laser
Diode laser is a triple wavelength technology that combines Alexandrite laser (755nm), Diode (808nm), and Ndyag (1064nm) in one head, making it applicable to all skin phototypes (Fitzpatrick I - VI) and nearly all hair tones.
Compared to other laser systems like Ruby and Alexandrite, the diode laser offers deeper penetration and superior absorption by the melanin in the hair follicle without being absorbed by the skin's melanin. This characteristic provides permanent and fast results along with an excellent safety profile.
Definitely, as the diode laser uses low heat, it provides the highest level of safety compared to any other laser hair removal technology. Additionally, the diode laser machine I have, allows me to fully customize the treatment to your specific parameters, and it is approved by CE, FDA, and HC.
But, in the end, as everything depends on the operator's training and experience, I can assure you that not only am I a licensed esthetician who has received rigorous training in laser use, but I also have years of experience.
No form of laser hair removal is 100% permanent, but is one of the most effective ways to provide significant permanent hair reduction.
Diode laser destroys those unwanted hairs with 70%-90% hair reduction noticed after 6-8 sessions! In other words, following a full course of treatment as agreed during consultation and treatment, results can be completely long-term with very little, if any, regrowth.
There are a few things that may cause regrowth, such as hormone changes (eg. pregnancy), however, on the whole, the process of laser is permanent! You can expect most of the treated follicles to no longer produce any hair, while a few may only produce thin, light, virtually invisible hair.
Generally, once you've completed your full laser sessions, you will need to come back only once a year for maintenance. You will really love the results!
Each Diode laser treatment affects approximately 30-35% of the active hair follicles within the targeted area. Thus, an average person needs about 6 to 8 treatments to achieve desired results, with some folks needing up to 10. I guarantee that changes will be noticeable from the very first session!
After this first session, you will see hair growing back again, and after 5-15 days, the hair that has been eliminated will start to fall off. The rest will be debilitated and permanently removed in the following sessions.
The frequency of sessions is determined based on the hair growth cycle and varies from person to person. Generally speaking, the first sessions are done every month for body hair removal and every 2 weeks for facial hair removal. As the treatment progresses and depending on the results, I will determine whether the subsequent sessions should be more frequent or spaced out.
Hairs do not fall out immediately and it usually takes around 7 to 21 days for the hair in the treated areas to fall out. Because Laser Hair Removal treatments work with hair follicles in the new-growth stage, repeated treatments are necessary, as hair growth and loss naturally occur in a cycle. With that said, you can expect a 10% to 25% reduction in hair after the first treatment.
To totally remove the hair, most people need 6 to 8 laser treatments, and most people can enjoy smooth, hair-free skin for the rest of their lives. However, it is possible for your skin to grow new hair follicles due to extreme hormonal shifts.
Preparing for your laser hair removal is part of your treatment plan. In a few words, you will need to stay out of the sun, be mindful regarding the skin products you use, and stop waxing, tweezing, or threading. Take some time to read through the How to Prepare for Your Laser Hair Removal Service, which is guaranteed to help you prepare and get the most out of your treatment.
Knowing what to do after a laser hair removal is the key to avoiding further discomfort and maximizing your results. Make sure you read about Laser Hair Removal Aftercare Practices, to learn all about the aftercare process.
Unlike traditional laser or IPL machines, hair removal at Every Body is comfortable, thanks to the new Sapphire Touch cooling system and the SHR & In Motion technology of the device I use, making the process almost painless, even in the most sensitive areas.
The Sapphire Touch technology cools and protects the skin (with a contact temperature that ranges from -4℃~10℃), while the SHR & In Motion technology ensures gradual heating of the skin, thus minimizing the risk of burns.
I would rather you didn’t. Numbing creams can in certain situations, cause allergic reactions. My diode laser offers an advanced cooling system for the most comfortable experience. With that said, if you want a numbing cream at all costs, then ask your pharmacist for any numbing cream that includes lidocaine such as Emla.
For maximum results, you need to wait 6-8 weeks after waxing, threading, or using an epilator before beginning laser treatment. The diode laser targets the melanin at root of the hair, so hair needs to grow back before I can point my laser beam at it.
In the meantime, you can shave as much as you want! In fact, I encourage you to do so! I know this may sound a bit confusing, as I usually advise against shaving, but sacrifices must be made to achieve smooth skin.
There are many things that go into determining your eligibility for Laser, and my Diode Laser is a super versatile machine, and I can treat nearly every skin tone! With that in mind, your hair must have pigment to it. Extremely blonde, red, or grey/white hair cannot be effectively treated, as melanin acts as the target. If your hair is lighter than your skin color, you may not be a good candidate. But worry not! I got you covered, as in this scenario you are a perfect candidate for Electrolysis!
It depends. When getting a Laser Hair Removal you may experience some mild redness and swelling for the first few hours after laser hair removal. Those signs and symptoms typically disappear within several hours to a few days.
Other possible side effects are extremely rare when laser hair removal is performed by a licensed esthetician. Generally speaking, possible side effects include Blistering, Herpes outbreaks, Infections, Scarring, and Skin lightening or Darkening. In time, skin color tends to return to normal. Some changes to skin color, however, might be permanent.
To minimize skin reactions, and to be on the safe side follow the instructions in the Pre-Laser Guide as well as the Post-Laser Guide and follow the treatment plan.
Some drugs or health issues may cause side effects, such as depigmentation, hyperpigmentation, burns, or skin infections, or make your laser hair removal treatments less effective. This is why, before your initial service, I am asking you to complete a detailed Consultation Form and I always evaluate your skin site before each service. Please refer to the Laser Contraindications and Potential Risks for further reading.
Diode laser can be an effective solution and can give incredible results for cases of hirsutism and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) since it allows the removal of hair from large extensions of skin, which will not only improve the physical appearance, but also the patient’s self-esteem, positively influencing their social relationship.
However, regular maintenance treatments may be required every 12-15 weeks, indefinitely. This can be especially true for facial hair growth.
There is no minimum age for laser treatment, but it's important to remember that hormone levels are high during puberty and tend to create and develop new hair follicles, so I do not recommend laser hair removal for individuals under 14 years old.
In any case, if you are under 18, you will need to bring a parent or legal guardian to your first appointment, as I will need their consent.
Even though there is no documented clinical evidence of laser hair reduction being harmful to pregnant people, during pregnancy the body is going through significant hormonal changes. Hormones can cause hair to grow sporadically, making the laser treatments less effective. This is why I recommend you wait until your body is back to its usual self before coming in for laser treatments.
I am sorry, but unfortunately you can't. Accutane causes the skin to become highly sensitive making you more susceptible to burns and irritation. I recommend that you have been off Accutane for a minimum of 6 months before beginning laser treatments.
I suggest that you should be off any products that contain Retinols or AHAs and BHAs for at least 4 weeks before any laser treatment.
If you have a tattoo, I will cover the tattoo or set up a security perimeter around it. Laser targets darker areas or areas with higher melanin, and this could deform the tattoo.
If you don’t have any tattoos and you may get one done, consider the possibility of undergoing laser hair removal treatment before getting the tattoo.
Being dark, the moles have a higher concentration of melanin than the rest of the skin, so they will heat up more and there will be a greater risk of adverse effects. This is why I protected them before the application of the laser.
Small, lighter freckles, however, can receive the energy emitted by the diode laser and sometimes even tend to disappear after treatment.
Yes, all you need is a clean tampon and you’re good to go. Please note that you may experience extra sensitivity to laser up to a week before the beginning of your period.
I’m not here to judge your body image, or to have second thoughts about it. I am here to help you boost your confidence. Every Body is a no-judgment zone, so come as you are! Also, please consider giving yourself a break, embrace your body, and practice some self-love.
For a Brazilian or a Bare Booty Laser Hair Removal, you will have to undress from the waist down – including your underwear. I understand it might sound a bit awkward, especially if you’ve never met me before, but, trust me, my only concern is helping you feel comfortable and do a good job. I treat people’s genitals all day long. I’ve seen it all, and I don’t judge.
Sometimes it happens and usually, it passes pretty quickly. As long as you are not behaving inappropriately I will carry out the treatment as normal. As I expect decent behavior from my guests during their treatment, any inappropriate comments or actions will result in the treatment ending immediately. This also means no rebooking for any future treatments. And that goes for all people, not just those with male genitalia.
Confidentiality is highly prized for me, so don’t run and hide! I won’t announce to the public that you get a laser treatment or whatsoever, so do not fret. Do what you feel comfortable with. I’ve got your best in mind and would be okay if you keep it simple and just say hello or introduce me as “an old friend” and carry on a full-length conversation if you’d like.
