Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is an intensive treatment used to release chronic muscle tension and tension in the connective tissue through strokes and direct pressure applied across the grain of the muscles.
Deep Tissue Massage targets specific areas to promote health and healing by focusing on the deeper layers of muscle tissue by following or going across the muscle's fibers, tendons, and fascia. Deep Tissue Massage is best for reducing chronically tight muscles that give pain or discomfort and for those accustomed to frequent massage.

Treatment Overview
Ideal For
Deep Tissue Massage is recommended for people that are recovering from physical injuries, are continuously involved in strenuous activity, suffer from chronic pain, and those accustomed to frequent massage.
Before Treatment
Specific preparation is not required, but I recommend being purposeful about your water intake, as a hydrated body will balance and cleanse itself much easier after a Deep Tissue Massage session.
After Treatment
To fully benefit from your Deep Tissue Massage, take 4-6 hours after your treatment to relax and reflect. Rest, read a book, watch a movie - do anything that relaxes you physically and mentally.
To relieve soreness and help your body flush out any toxins, drink lots of water. Avoid carbonated drinks, alcohol, tea, or coffee.
Eat a light, healthy snack, and don't have a heavy meal for several hours.
Refrain from any strenuous activity like the gym. But do some gentle stretching, paying attention to the trouble spots that received the most attention during your massage.
Wait for an hour before taking a warm shower or bath. If you are up for a bath, you can also add 1/2 cup of Epsom salts and soak for 20-40 minutes. This way, you further help your body rid itself of toxins and reduce muscle inflammation. You also get the added bonus of absorbing the beneficial magnesium found in Epsom salts through your skin.
Downtime
Some soreness is expected. Soreness will usually start to develop 6-8 hours post-massage and peak at 48-72 hours.
You might also feel tiredness, thirst, headache, heightened emotions, nausea, and frequent urination. These reactions are perfectly normal and are your body's response to the treatment by ridding itself of toxins and working to heal any problem areas that have been treated.
Following good aftercare will help you to reduce the symptoms.
Furthermore, as your body becomes accustomed to regular massages, you’ll experience the next-day soreness less frequently, making the experience that much more pleasurable.
Recommended Sessions
As with any massage therapy, regular sessions are necessary to acquire the most benefits that will last longer. For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one or two monthly massage sessions are usually enough. For those who have high-stress levels in their work or personal life, a massage session once a week is usually the norm. The same goes for those who want to relieve chronic tightness that interferes with their daily life.
