Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a soothing body massage, designed to relax and rejuvenate. It works by stretching ligaments and tendons, stimulating the skin, relaxing the nerves, and promoting deep relaxation. It helps reduce pain and joint stiffness and promotes deep restorative qualities to soothe the nervous system, thus assisting the body’s self-healing. It focuses on calming the body, by reducing tension in the muscles and increasing overall blood flow.
The increased blood and lymphatic flow speed up the removal of metabolic waste and the by-products of tissue damage and inflammation. It reduces tension, stiffness, and pain in muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and joints while improving circulation and flexibility. It promotes deep relaxation and assists with stress management.

Treatment Overview
Ideal For
Swedish Massage is perfect for those looking for a relaxing massage with a light to moderate touch as a means for increasing circulation, improving range of motion, relieving tension, and stress reduction.
Before Treatment
Specific preparation is not required, but I recommend being purposeful about your water intake, because a hydrated body will balance and cleanse itself much easier.
After Treatment
To fully benefit from your Swedish Massage, try to make sure that you can take 4-6 hours after your treatment to relax and reflect. Rest, read a book, watch a movie - do anything that relaxes you physically and mentally.
To relieve soreness and any other side effect, make sure you drink lots of water to help your body flush out any toxins disturbed by the massage. Avoid drinking carbonated drinks, alcohol, tea, or coffee.
Eat a light, healthy snack, and try not to eat a heavy meal for several hours.
Avoid doing anything strenuous like gym. But do some gentle stretching, paying attention to the trouble spots that received the most attention during your massage.
Wait for an hour before taking a warm shower or bath. If you are up for a bath you can also add 1/2 cup of Epsom salts, and soak for 20-40 minutes. Epsom salts are an effective way to further help your body rid itself of toxins and reduce muscle inflammation. You also get the added bonus of absorbing the beneficial magnesium found in Epsom salts through your skin.
Downtime
None. If you are new to massage or if it has been a while since your last session, then some soreness is expected. Soreness will usually start to develop 6-8 hours post-massage and peak at 48-72 hours.
You might also feel tiredness, thirst, headache, heightened emotions, nausea, and frequent urination. These reactions are perfectly normal and are your body's response to the treatment by ridding itself of toxins and working to heal any problem areas that have been treated.
Following good aftercare will help you to reduce the symptoms. Furthermore, as your body becomes accustomed to regular massages, you’ll experience the next-day soreness less frequently, making the experience that much more pleasurable.
Recommended Sessions
As with any therapy, regular sessions are necessary to acquire the most benefits and to make those benefits last longer. For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one or two monthly massage sessions are usually enough. For those who have high-stress levels in their work or personal life, a massage session once a week is usually the norm. Weekly sessions may also be desirable for those who are receiving massage for injury relief or to relieve chronic tightness that is interfering with their daily life.
Add-Ons
